Thinking of an account with Wells Fargo?? Think again. Your money is not safe there. Here is the details:
I am having work done on my house, and someone stole a check from the bedroom. They also took mail from my mail box with a debit card in the envelope. They did not have a pin so they wrote a check for 100 and cased it at the drive in window. For ID they took a debit card (the stolen one) and cashed the check. So I discover the theft and forgery, report it to Wachovia (Wells Fargo Now) , fill in the affidavits etc. The check is a clear forgery, bad signatures all around.
So do I get the 100 returned? Nope, here is the letter from Wachovia on their decision

So their tellers cashed a check with a bad signature, a forged endorsement but it is my fault so they will not reimburse the funds. If it was for 100,000 instead of 100 I suspect the decision would be the same. Not exactly the secure feeling you get with your bank. I think I will find a different one, and I suggest everyone else do the same.
